SOWORE: BETWEEN MYSELF AND OBASANJO

Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the AAC, has spoken about how he once helped former President Olusegun Obasanjo while Obasanjo was locked up in prison in Adamawa State.

In a video shared by News Century TV, Sowore said that during his time serving in the National Youth Service Corps in Yola, he was among the people who helped Obasanjo get a standing fan while Obasanjo was detained in Yola prison

Sowore said Obasanjo complained that he could not sleep well in the prison cell where he was kept in Yola because of heat. He said he went into town with a female prison warder to look for a standing fan for him.

Sowore said he personally bought the fan, and the fan was secretly taken into the prison for Obasanjo. He added that he had never spoken publicly about this before. He also said he is 55 years old now and Obasanjo is 89 years old.

In Sowore’s words: “Obasanjo that you are seeing now, who is always telling you that he knows Nigeria’s best leader, I was one of the people that went to go and look for a fan when I was doing NYSC in Yola so that he could have a fan. They said he can’t sleep in the prison that they put him in Yola. I went with a female prison warder who came to town for this standing fan for Obasanjo. They had to smuggle it in. I was the one who went to go and buy the fan. I wanted to go to the prison, they said if they see me there they will lock me up. I have never said this publicly before, so I fought for Obasanjo. He is 89 years old and I am still 55”
