NUJ HONOURS FAROUNBI, GOVERNORS

The Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Dikko Ummaru Radda, and the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey, along with twenty veteran journalists from both print and broadcast media, were honored with the Media Icon in Nigeria awards during the 3rd edition of the NUJ Milestone Recognition of Media Icons.

The event was held on Thursday at Ikeja Airport Hotel, Lagos.

Both governors received the Worker/Media Friendly Governor Award in recognition of their support for the media and their efforts in fostering positive relations with the press.

The twenty other awardees, recognized for their outstanding contributions to journalism, included Comrade Bisi Amagada, Dame Comfort Obi, Mr. Tonie Iredia, Mr. Nosa Igiebor, Mr. Lade Bonuola, Dare Babarinsa, Mr. Yakub Mohammed, Obong Moses Ekpo, Eze Joe Anika, Prof. Umar Pate, Dr. Yemi Farounbi, Pa Jola Ogunlusi, Mr. Shuaibu Liman, Mr. Dan Agbese, Comrade Ini Ememobong, Mrs. Comfort Umanah, Dr. Eddie Iroh, Mr. Felix Adenaike, and Toun Okewale Sonaya.

Notably, Pa Jola Ogunlusi, the oldest recipient at 90 years old, was specially honored during the event.
