NBC: MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONTENT OWNERS

The Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Charles Ebuebu, has assured Nigeria’s content owners that the ongoing Digital Switchover (DSO) will open unprecedented opportunities for visibility, financial growth, and industry collaboration.

Delivering his presentation as Special Guest of Honour at the induction ceremony of the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) held in Lagos on 25th March, 2026, the DG emphasized that the success of the DSO depends on the active participation of content creators.

“Without compelling content to fill up the channels, the success of the DSO might not be complete. This is why we are calling on content owners to partner with the Commission to ensure that Nigeria’s digital future is rich, diverse, and sustainable,” the DG stated.

He explained that the soon-to-be-launched FreeTV Direct-to-Home (DTH) platform and FreeTV mobile app will serve as powerful tools for creators, offering nationwide reach, advanced analytics, and brand partnership opportunities.

The DG commended EMCOAN members for their role in strengthening Nigeria’s creative economy and urged them to seize the opportunities presented by the DSO. He noted that the Commission is committed to building a platform where Nigerian stories, culture and creativity can thrive both locally and globally.

The induction ceremony which had in attendance the NBC Director Lagos Zone, Mr. Ralph Akpan and some leading content owners in Nigeria presented the rallying call to inductees to step forward and ensure that the digital transition is not only technologically advanced but also powered by homegrown creativity.
