She was in her penultimate year when she received the most devastating news of her life – her parents were involved in a car accident and they both lost their lives on the spot.
Everything went blank as she could not figure out what to make of her life. Why both parents the same day? How will she scale through as there is no known family member she could run to for assistance.
Being the first child with two younger siblings to cater for, she realised she has a lot on her plate to chew as she could not afford to drop out of school at this time and for her, promiscuity is not an option.
Though she had it really rough and tough, she was determined to scale through against all odds and that she did.
There is indeed no excuse for promiscuity as it is a fruit of lack of self-control, self-discipline with a twist of covetousness. The same way hunger is no excuse for a thief to steal, because once he is caught, he has to pay back or face the consequences of his action.
Irrespective of the socio-economic status, ladies should be groomed to avoid being promiscuous as it comes with a price.
Nothing goes for free, so it is with being promiscuous and the consequences of promiscuity, as temporarily fulfilling and enjoyable as it may seems, are grave.
Promiscuous individuals have to invest a lot of energy in their immune system to ward off sexually transmitted diseases.
Few of the negative impact of promiscuity as fully canvased are discussed here:
• STDs. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 19 million new STD infections occur each year. Among the most common STDs are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis, but the most common of all is the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV can infect the mouth or the genitals, and most people do not know they are infected. HPV has been linked to cervical cancer and to oral and throat cancers.
• HIV and AIDS. Being promiscuous and having STDs both increase your susceptibility to the AIDS virus. Despite better education and treatment, AIDS still killed more than 14,000 Americans in 2007.
• Other risky health conditions, if promiscuity is added, like smoking, heavy drinking, substance abuse, not getting enough sleep, and poor diet, can contribute to several chronic diseases.
If all of the above are simply part of the effects of being promiscuous, what then could be the likely excuse one can give for promiscuity? Your reactions, please
