SHEHU SANI PROMISES TO ASSIST IBU

Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has promised to do all he can to help John Okafor, the ailing Nollywood actor.

It will be recalled that the veteran comic actor took to social media on Wednesday to seek public assistance as he battles an ailment that may cost him his leg.

The actor said he has been down for many weeks and has been on admission in an undisclosed hospital.

The video he shared on Instagram has generated wide range of reactions from sympathisers.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, described Mr Okafor as his favourite actor.

“Mr Ibu is my favorite artist and comedian. He lights up and entertains the homes of millions of Nigerians.

“We shall not let him down for reasons we can all collectively solve. We shall do the needful and also bring the attention of the big names to do the needful,” he said.

Meanwhile, Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has slamed Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, for dragging the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi over actor John Okafor’s ill health.

Reno Omokri challenged Peter Obi to cover the actor’s medical expenses on his X page claiming that Mr Ibu had endorsed and campaigned for him as his preferred candidate during the 2023 general elections.

Reacting to Omokri’s post, Kanayo in a clip shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, condemned and described him as wicked.

He said, “As actors, our heart goes out to our dear colleague, Mr Ibu. His family has done their best since it was reported last year. And now they have come out to say we have done our best, we need public support.

“Now, I condemn in strict terms Reno Omokri, who is coming to call Peter Obi’s name and so on. It is not a friendly thing. It’s wicked. And to Uche Maduagwu, who talked about shame on top actors. Shame on you too because you don’t have any value and level to call out our names.

“It’s an individual thing to support a colleague. It becomes a collective thing as Actors Guild of Nigeria. Don’t forget some people learn to give personally, privately. Even those who have given can also be appreciated on a scale of what they have given to John Okafor.”
