He said this during a familiarization visit alongside Mrs. Susan Dauda, Information Assistant, on Thursday, March 14 2024, to the National Broadcasting Commission’s headquarters.
During the visit, Mr. Gilbert Morton sought to understand the Commission’s responsibilities as the broadcast regulator in Nigeria and highlighted some key areas where the embassy could collaborate with the Commission.
In response, the Director General, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, welcomed Mr. Morton and acknowledged the privilege of having the new US Embassy Press Attaché in the Commission. He outlined the Commission’s key functions, including the regulation and licensing of the broadcast media. Mr. Ebuebu also expressed the Commission’s willingness to collaborate with the U.S Embassy on various initiatives, such as the upcoming implementation of the digital switch over and the review of the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.
The visit signifies the beginning of a successful collaboration between the Commission and the US Embassy, particularly in the areas of regulation and development of the broadcast industry in Nigeria.
