AKINDELE: SINDODO BORROWED ME CLOTHES

Famous Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, known professionally as, Jenifa,  has shared how she used to borrow clothes to appear presentable at auditions and movie sets in her early days in Nollywood.

The 47-year-old filmmaker reflected on her humble beginnings, acknowledging the roles Iyabo Ojo and Tayo Odueke, popularly known as Sikiratu Sindodo, played in her rise to stardom.

Currently on vacation in Ghana with her best friend, Eniola Badmus and skit maker Kamo State, Funke recounted her struggles in a series of Snapchat videos on Sunday.

She described how she and Eniola once hustled for attention from producers, hoping to land roles.

According to Funke, Sikiratu Sindodo often lent her clothes so she could look classy and confident during auditions.

She also praised Iyabo Ojo for being a strong support system, recalling how the actress stood up for her and even took her out for meals when times were tough.

“I remember borrowing Sindodo’s clothes for auditions. She always gave them to me willingly,” Funke said.

“There were times I cried after not getting roles, and she would console me. Iyabo Ojo was also very kind; she used to take us out to buy food and always defend people.”

Funke also playfully mimicked Iyabo’s reaction when a producer once rejected her for a role.

A few days earlier, the A Tribe Called Judah filmmaker had spoken about the hardships she endured before becoming Nollywood’s box office queen, saying she has learned to rise above challenges and use her experiences to inspire others.
