Guinness World Records on Thursday said that the video announcing Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey aka Hilda Baci, as the new record holder for the longest cooking by an individual, is the top performing tweet ever on their handle, with 25 million views.
The video was reposted on Thursday with the caption, “Yeah, so this is our best-performing tweet of all time with nearly 25 million news feeds reached.”
GWR announced Baci’s confirmation in a video shared on their Twitter handle on Tuesday.
It was accompanied by a statement on its website that read, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda EffiongBassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.”
Baci attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because of the extra minutes for one of her rest breaks.
Meanwhile, Chef Dammy from Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has been denied by the Guinness World Records, saying she did not seek its approval before her effort.
“We have not received an application for this attempt. Application can be made via our website for our records management team to review”.
But, the reality is that Dammy has shot herself into limelight, gathering thousands of fans and followers in the process. The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University in Oye-Ekiti visited her during the effort, while some followers sent money.
The best news was that Hilda Bacci sent her a goodwill message, encouraging her to optimize her talent. Hilda’s message deserves commendation as it actually neutralized negative views against Dammy.
As it is, Dammy will have to retry by going through the procedures if she wants GWR recognition or remain satisfied with her current fame as a platform for her career.
Surprisingly, in an interview, Dammy has revealed that she did not do the cook-at-thon for GWR recognition. This, however, does not indicate that she was influenced by Hilda’s GWR recognition or will not participate in future.
