MERCY JOHNSON: I STARTED LIFE AS A MAID

Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has shared her remarkable story of perseverance and success. From humble beginnings as a housemaid earning N10,000, Johnson’s life took a dramatic turn when a friend noticed her hard work and recommended her to a movie producer.

Johnson recalled that she landed a role in the film “The Maid,” playing a character that mirrored her real-life experiences and her authentic performance earned her N100,000, marking a significant turning point in her life.

“I used to earn just N10K as salary. It was hard. Life was tough. I was working as a housemaid, doing everything I could to survive. But I never gave up. I kept showing up, kept working, even when things didn’t make sense. One day, someone noticed me, a friend who saw how hard I worked. That friend told a movie producer about me. Just like that, my life changed.

“I got a role in a film called The Maid. I played a housemaid, just like I was in real life. I didn’t have to pretend, I just acted from my pain, my truth. That one scene changed everything for me. I was paid N100K and it felt like I had touched heaven. My story turned around overnight. I cried. I smiled. I felt seen.

“Today, when I look back, I tell people, never stop believing in yourself. Even when things feel impossible, something good is coming. Just keep going. Your story will change too.” She said.
