John Mikel Obi has finally broken his silence, addressing the buzz around his alleged snub of music legend 2Baba during their encounter in London.
According to Mikel, their history goes way back:
“We both came up in Jos. You became famous before me, and I reached out to you several times but got no reply. Later, God answered my prayers too, and I made my own name.”
He went on to describe his shock when 2Baba suddenly tried reconnecting years later in a London mall:
“After ignoring me back then, now you want to acknowledge me because I’ve succeeded? Life has taught me that many only want to identify with success. That’s why I stick with the ones who stood with me before the spotlight.”
Closing his statement, Mikel made his position clear:
“I don’t keep fake friends or pretenders around me.”
