Nigerian football legend and former Super Eagles captain, Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, has offered words of advice to Victor Osimhen as speculation grows over the striker’s future.
Osimhen, 26, recently concluded a successful loan spell with Galatasaray, scoring an impressive 37 goals in all competitions and clinching the Golden Boot in the Turkish Super Lig. His loan deal from Italian side Napoli expired at the end of May, and his next move remains uncertain.
While Galatasaray are eager to sign him permanently, Osimhen has also attracted interest from top European clubs and teams in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking to Turkish broadcaster TRT Spor (via Haberler), Okocha, who once starred for Galatasaray’s rivals, Fenerbahçe, commended Osimhen’s performance and expressed confidence in Turkey as a thriving football destination.
“Turkey is a great place to play and live football,” Okocha said. “Sometimes, you may need to make sacrifices when making decisions in football. Osimhen had a great season at Galatasaray. Ultimately, he is happy there. Why shouldn’t he stay with the team? I love Turkey. He loves it too.”
While Okocha admitted he doesn’t know where Osimhen will land next, he wished the striker the best in his career.
Osimhen’s decision this summer could shape the next phase of his football journey, whether that means staying in Istanbul or moving on to new challenges elsewhere.
OSIMHEN SHOULD MAKE SACRIFICE, OKOCHA
