THE FALL AND RISE OF SAIDI BALOGUN

Top Nollywood actor, Saidi Balogun, has shared a deeply emotional story about the darkest periods of his life; the moments when he faced both physical and financial battles that almost broke him.

According to the veteran actor, there was a time he was involved in a terrible accident that nearly claimed his life. Doctors and people around him had little hope that he would survive.

He revealed that he was bedridden for three months, struggling to recover while many believed he would never return to normal life.

But fate had another challenge waiting for him years later.

Saidi Balogun explained that he once made what he described as the worst business decision of his career. He invested ₦25 million in producing a movie, hoping it would become a major success. Unfortunately, the movie was heavily pirated, destroying the expected returns.

Instead of recovering his investment, he said he only made about ₦800,000.

The devastating loss pushed him from being a celebrated actor to becoming financially broke and even homeless at one point.

In the middle of that painful experience, it was his mother’s words that gave him the strength to keep going.

He recalled how she called him to come and see her in Lagos Island, where she had even seen pirated copies of the movie being sold.

Then she reminded him of something powerful:

«“Do you remember when you were lifeless and nobody thought you would come back to us? I stayed with you, nursed you, and you survived. If you could survive that, you will survive this.”»
