In an interview with Forbes Africa, the ‘Water and Garri‘ hitmaker explained that she doesn’t think she has the “gift” to manage and mentor upcoming musicians.
According to Tiwa, signing artistes can be a “stressful” task, and she may not be able to control their actions. She expressed concerns about the potential risks and challenges associated with managing new talent.
Instead, Tiwa revealed plans to establish a music school where aspiring singers can learn and develop their skills. She believes this approach will allow her to contribute to the growth of the music industry while minimizing the risks associated with signing new artistes.
“I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artiste… But I do have the gift to help, which is why I am trying to do the music school,” Tiwa said.
Tiwa Savage has established herself as a leading figure in the Nigerian music landscape, with a successful career spanning over a decade. Her latest project, ‘Water and Garri,’ was released in August 2021, and her debut film of the same name premiered on Prime Video in May.
