TONTO DIKEH: HOW I LOST OPPORTUNITY WITH WIZKID

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has opened up about her past close friendship with Nigerian music sensation, Wizkid. In a recent statement, Dikeh revealed that she and Wizkid were inseparable nearly a decade ago, with many speculating that they were romantically involved.

According to Dikeh, she would often deny the rumors, citing Wizkid’s young age at the time and her concerns about the potential backlash from the media.

She recalled how blogs, including Linda Ikeji’s, would frequently gossip about their relationship, with some even suggesting that Wizkid had impregnated his “big sister” due to their age difference.

She said, “This life is really unpredictable, almost a decade ago, I and Wizkid used to be really close friends like besties, we were always spotted together everywhere. Popular blogs like Linda Ikeji would gossip about us that we were dating and I will just come out to deny it.

Wizzy was very young then, in his early 20’s so I had that feeling of resentment of the backlash I would receive from the media. You know talks like Wizzy impregnating his big sister and all that cos I am way older than him.

I wondered how people would see me, how my friends would rate me and how my family would take it because once in a while Wizzy would jokingly tell me “See I no mind if we run am”.

Dikeh expressed regret over not pursuing a romantic relationship with Wizkid, given his current status as the “king of Afrobeats.” She jokingly admitted that she would have accepted his advances if she had known he would achieve such immense success.

“If I had knew he would grow this big to become the king of Afrobeats, I would have accepted o because right now he doesnt even remember we once had a thing in the past.”

Despite this, Dikeh maintained that she still holds Wizkid in high regard, stating “I still love him!” The actress’s revelation has sparked a mix of reactions on social media, with some fans praising her honesty and others criticizing her for “chasing clout.”
