LIZ BENSON’S WORLD

Elizabeth Benson, fondly called Liz Benson, known as the ‘Screen goddess’ of Nigerian film in those days, is a veteran multi-award-winning Nigerian actress, television host, and philanthropist.

She was born on the 5th of April, 1966, in Etinawa, Akwa Ibom State.

The veteran actress rose to prominence in 1993 for her role in the television soap opera, Fortunes.

Liz Benson attended Sylvania State College in the United States of America, where she earned a degree in Dramatic Arts

She began her acting career when she was very young, in 1971. She made an appearance on the television soap opera Fortunes in 1993. Benson portrayed Mrs. Agnes Johnson in the NTA Network soap opera that aired for nearly two years.

Liz’s breakthrough in the Nigerian and African entertainment industries was Fortunes, and she later appeared in a slew of films.

In 1994, her performance in the popular home video film Glamour Girls with Eucharia Anunobi, which dealt with the issue of prostitution, cemented her reputation as a film actress.

Her performance in the film enhanced her reputation in the industry, elevating her to the ranks of popular actors.

Her excellent command of the English language also distinguished her as one of Nollywood’s most distinctive actors.

Benson abruptly retired from acting in 1996 to become a born-again Christian. She currently works as an evangelist in Delta State with her husband, who runs their Freedom Family Assembly ministry.

The living legend is undoubtedly one of the very first authentic stars of Nollywood.
