AGBALETU: WE’RE NOT HERE TO CREATE TROUBLE

Agbaletu TV, a popular Yoruba-language program, has been making waves in the music industry by providing a platform for artistes to share their stories and experiences.

Founded by Dele Adeyanju, a seasoned broadcast journalist and musician, Agbaletu TV has become a go-to destination for fans of Fuji and Juju music.

In a recent interview, Adeyanju shared insights about his platform, which focuses on showcasing Yoruba music and culture through storytelling.

According to Adeyanju, the idea behind Agbaletu TV is to tell the story of Yoruba music and culture through the language of the people. “Music in itself is a culture,” he explained. “It becomes easier to tell our story using our language.”

Agbaletu TV has not only provided a platform for artistes to share their stories but has also played a role in reconciling past feuds. Adeyanju cited examples of successful reconciliations, including one between Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey and former guitarist Mr. Segun Awe, as well as another between Pastor David Olayiwola and Mama D.A. Fasoyin.

Adeyanju has plans to expand Agbaletu TV’s scope to include hip-hop artistes, with a particular focus on those who can converse in Yoruba. He has already identified ID Cabasa as a potential guest.

Despite facing challenges in getting people to understand the program’s purpose, Adeyanju remains committed to Agbaletu TV’s mission. “We are not here to create trouble between any warring factions or to create problems,” he said. “Once people realise that this is what we stand for, then most of the other challenges we have will be surmounted.”
